Leading Lady! | Loves a challenge — kids, bull riding, race cars, and roller coasters! Experienced in all things marketing!
As our fearless leader, strongest supporter and biggest cheerleader, Jenny brings more than 30 years of experience in the world of marketing and advertising. Her passion for helping her clients and providing them with resources to achieve their goals motivated her to branch out and form her own agency in 2011. Clients such as Goodwill Community Foundation (GCF) loved working with her and believed in her enough to encourage the transition and remain partners. Now Martin Communications is making the GCF company better and more visible to the world. Many years and many clients later, Jenny continues to staunchly live by the motto of “Good work for good people.” That motto, combined with her eye for detail, her sales mentality, and her hands-on approach has resulted in the success of Martin Communications and her team. A word often used to describe Jenny is “generous.” She is generous with her time and resources, sharing those things with her family, her team, her clients, and her community. While Jenny is a savvy businesswoman, she is first and foremost a wife, mom and grandmother. As often as possible you can find her playing with her grandchildren or heading to the beach! She loves boating, golf, traveling and crafting.
Because marketers make change happen.
That’s the work. Not to run ads, not to sell crap, not to invent hoopla.
Marketing makes change. If you’re not proud of the change you’re making, do something else.
It turns out that smart marketing is significantly more effective than the other kind. It turns out that showing up with the right work for the right people in the right way is a powerful tool in making change happen.
The other kind of marketing gets a bad rap, and that’s well deserved.
But real marketing, the marketing that makes things better by making better things–that’s what we need more of.
Drummer Boy | Can beat any technology-related issue — awesome website developer and data geek.
Every company has that “go-to” guy, the one who can figure anything out and who enjoys helping others. Kevin is that guy at Martin Communications. In the late 90’s, Kevin began developing web sites through various marketing agencies and then started building web sites professionally. He joined Martin Communications in 2016 and has been an instrumental member of the team ever since, pushing technology to automate the client’s needs and make their online presence exceed their expectations. Website programming and development however are just two of Kevin’s many talents!
He is a professional drummer in a local band, songwriter, and sports enthusiast (he enjoys playing any sport that does not involve skates). Fun fact about this night owl is that he has been told that he is the tallest member of his entire family bloodline!
In everything that he does, he tries to make it better than the expectation. He loves coming up with new ideas that haven’t yet been considered and applying them to the task at hand. Kevin is always thinking about the other person, whether it is a client, acquaintance or friend. He will go out of his way to make sure others are completely satisfied with the results.
Word Wiz | Deep into the details, she is at heart a planner and an organizer. Wordsmith, content creator, brand developer-she loves to tell her client's stories.
Julia spent 16 years in the building world, initially dabbling in sales and design before being introduced to marketing. She found that marketing and advertising challenged her, stretched her creative abilities, and put great use to her love for writing and event planning. She learned homebuilding from every different angle working for production builders, custom builders and even the builder/developer group of an advertisement agency. Julia made it a priority to get involved with Home Builder Associations both on a local and national level resulting in leadership roles, published articles, and awards won. She is excited to now bring her experience to Martin Communications where she can submerge herself in the creative process and help a diverse group of clientele. She is a wife, mom and trivia nerd who is constantly reading and loves, loves tea (brewing it, drinking it, studying it, and collecting tea dishes). When she is not brainstorming and dreaming, you can find Julia watching old movies, serving up something pretty on a plate, furthering her personal blog, or travelling the world.
There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.
Media Master | Brings years of experience building relationships with media reps and family and team celebrations!
Words that best describe Jatana are calm, level-headed, and kind. This 24-year veteran of the advertising industry exudes Christ-like character as she makes it her mission to treat others with the utmost respect and care. That attitude is not reserved solely for clients but rather every person that she meets.
Jatana began her career in media sales but decided after six years to move to an agency. She knew that it was a huge risk but it paid off in a big way as she was able to have the best of both worlds-still working in media but now on the client side. Nine years later Jatana joined her good friend Jenny Martin at the inception of Martin Communications and has not looked back since. For more than two decades Jatana has experienced working with all different types of clients, going above and beyond for each one by developing relationships and executing big picture marketing plans.
On a personal note, Jatana cherishes the time she has with her family creating memories at amusement parks or beach vacations. She also enjoys spending time in her yard and decorating her screen porch with plants and hanging baskets. A fun fact about Jatana is that she loves drag racing and muscle cars! Her dad raced so she spent many Sunday afternoons at the local dragstrip, sometimes riding in the backseat while her dad raced! Her other interests include Early American History, cooking, and supporting Missions and Children with Dyslexia.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
Chameleon | Adapts very well to surroundings and issues — problem-solver and entertainer in all settings — just ask her!
Tami began working in advertising at The News & Observer in 1984. Over the past 35+ years, she has intentionally centered her career around relationships – sales, account management, memberships and marketing. Tami joined #teamMartin at the beginning of 2016, jumping in to help existing clients and to procure new business. She loves interacting with her team and the process of bringing concepts to life-whether it is a website, a print product or social media interaction. When it comes to thinking big and executing bigger, Tami is a professional. Her personality is classic overachiever-committing 100 percent, paying attention to every minute detail, and refusing to rest until the goal has exceeded expectations. Oh, and fun fact: Tami was a professional clown for three years!
Originally from East Tennessee, Tami still gets tears in her eyes when The Smoky Mountains come into view. A die-hard college football fan, she refers to the Volunteers’ brand as one of her favorites, an example of how a set of colors, logos and icons can reflect local heritage and evoke a sense of pride and ownership.
In her spare time, Tami enjoys playing golf and loving on her sweet pups. She is also a huge supporter of Autism awareness and the benefits of college athletics for young men and women.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right.
Sustainability Sister | Keeps us on track reusing, reducing and recycling — family adventures are her thing.
Our resident New Home Marketing expert and Account Manager extraordinaire, Kelly displays the perfect balance between compassion and professionalism for all of her clients. Her 16 years working in the new home construction industry allows her the flexibility to work with different types of builders and developers though she is far from limited to just that industry. Her organizational skills and desire to “get it right” have served her well with companies of all shapes and sizes. From grass roots efforts to digital strategy, Kelly is committed to providing her clients with the best results possible while developing strong relationships along the way.
Kelly decided to join Martin Communications in the summer of 2017 where she could best collaborate and brainstorm with her clients, providing them with results to achieve their goals. She may claim to be a night owl but you can also find her responding to emails first thing in the morning-making herself available to her team and her clients is of the utmost importance.
Kelly is at heart a small-town girl who spent most of her youth on The Pamlico River. She and her husband now share those strong family values with their children Tucker and Layla. She is all for visiting the mountains as often as possible, reading the latest bestseller or cheering for The Tar Heels!
People will forget what you said,
People will forget what you did,
But people will never forget how you made them feel
Rock Star | Manages day-to-day social media planning and an expert in coordinating and monitoring social media messaging. She is also a great vocalist!
Jennifer is a true entertainer, constantly juggling social media efforts for all of our clients. This is also an accurate tribute to her incredible skills as a singer and musician. A lover of the theater and a natural performer, this night owl is always dreaming of life in the Big Apple with its vibrant energy, bright lights, and unparalleled arts scene. However, we are happy she chooses to stay in North Carolina where we can benefit from her many talents and charming personality. For over three years, Jennifer has been a part of the Martin Team. Her role as Director of Social Media allows her to do the other things that she loves which is to learn more about her clients and help them connect with their audience. She is a huge influence with every client as she helps them to determine and execute their social media strategy.
When she decides to take a break as social media guru, Jennifer rocks out as a fabulous singer for a local band, NQR (along with our very own Kevin Boxell on drums) and loves to laugh and be entertained. She is also a staunch supporter of

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.
Web Developer | Fantastic website knitter! Still wondering when he's going to start working in marketing.
Though Dan has been with Martin Communications since 2018, he is just now realizing that he works in marketing and advertising! This Renaissance man boasts an English Literature degree from North Carolina State University and 11 years of business and service experience as a carpet cleaner. In his spare time, Dan dabbled in web development, discovering a talent and passion for the field which motivated him to further his education. In 2014, Dan injured his knee and took advantage of the subsequent nine months to go back to school and take classes in programming, web design and web development. He finished his Associates Degree in Web Development at Wake Tech and is currently working towards a B.A. in Computer Science from Oregon State. Persistent, determined, and hard-working, Dan has made himself invaluable to #teammartin but the icing on the cake is his ability to provide comic relief to the group and keep us all smiling! He enjoys the people he works with and appreciates the fun and productive team environment. Of course, when Dan is not reciting thought-provoking sonnets, judging people for the cleanliness of their rugs, or dreaming up cartoon-like characters for his digital fun, he is acting as a responsible adult: husband, father, and law-abiding citizen. Dan enjoys reading and tinkering and has an appreciation for understanding how things work and even more impressively, how he can best improve himself on all levels.
The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.
Snake Charmer | Love of reptiles, images and all funnies contribute to her graphic design specialties.
As a creative soul and out-of-the box thinker, Rebecca’s senses are focused on different forms of art. Her graphic design is a result of how she perceives colors and shapes and how she can manipulate them to visually tell her clients’ messages. Her relationship with Martin Communications began as a Public Relations intern at the end of 2013; however, she knew that graphic design was her passion so she thought big and executed bigger by proving her talents to her team. Her short stint as a PR intern helped give her additional perspective on the various aspects of a communications firm but her determination to become a graphic designer is what opened the next door.
In the past seven years, Rebecca has helped Martin Communications’ clients to visualize their brand identity, create successful campaigns, and achieve their sales and marketing goals. Her creativity definitely does not stop at the end of the workday as this energetic mom loves to paint all types of canvases and peruse other brands for inspiration. She is also committed to helping those less fortunate, supporting organizations which feed the hungry and fight animal abuse. She is an avid fan of YouTube and several podcasts!
The alternative to good design is always bad design. There is no such thing as no design
Money Mogul | A whiz with numbers, this mom of two keeps us all on the right accounting track. Former fashion merchandiser and current fitness expert, she is as well-rounded as they come!
Dayle is definitely not your typical accountant! Fashion Merchandiser, Fitness Instructor, Criminal Podcast Junkie, this lady has done it all. Did we mention that she lived in Paris? Dayle began her education with an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and Retailing. After working a year in the industry, she decided it was not for her and went back to school where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Western Conn State University. She worked for IBM for 11 years in various departments and then chose to return to Raleigh and focus on raising her two sons. In 2005, Dayle began working as a freelance bookkeeper and now supports 9 clients including Martin Communications. While she is technically a contractor, she has embraced the Martin Communications family and we are thrilled to have her on the team. She loves how the organization is structured around being one positive unit and the support she has noticed amongst the team members. Fun facts about Dayle include her love for drinking black tea all day long and that she is a Caniac! On top of all of this, Dayle also supports two incredibly worthy causes: Saving Grace NC Animal Adoption and A Place at the Table Restaurant in Raleigh. Most importantly though is her relationship with her family-her two boys and her man Ronnie!
The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!
